Busy Philipps gives birth to a daughter

LOS ANGELES, July 4 (UPI) -- Busy Philipps' publicist says the U.S. actress has given birth to her second daughter.

The "Cougar Town" star and former "Dawson's Creek' cast member married screenwriter Marc Silverstein in 2007. They are also the parents of a 4-year-old daughter named Birdie.

"I can confirm she gave birth to a baby girl on July 2 who weighed 8.5 pounds," the actress' representative told UsMagazine.com Wednesday. "Everyone is healthy and happy."

"So this happened," Philipps said in a Twitter message she posted alongside a black-and-white picture of herself holding her newborn daughter.

The child's name has not been announced yet.
