Roseanne Barr, NBC in talks for sitcom

HOLLYWOOD, June 29 (UPI) -- NBC is nearing a deal with Roseanne Bar to star in a new sitcom, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The as-yet unnamed sitcom would be a family comedy that, if successful, would be the network's first attempt at the 10/90 model, the entertainment industry publication reported Friday.

The 10/90 model is a syndication approach in which the first 10 episodes of a television show are ordered, and if the show reaches a certain ratings threshold, another 90 episodes would be ordered.

This allows the television show to be profitable in syndication because 100 episodes is the number at which it can be aired as reruns.

Should the deal be successful, it would be NBC and Universal TV's first attempt at the 10/90 model.

Barr has already proven to be a syndication draw with "Roseanne," which ran for 220 episodes.
