Mayim Bialik says she is tired of defending her parenting views

LOS ANGELES, June 24 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Mayim Bialik says she is tired of fighting with people who disagree with her views on attachment parenting.

Bialik, 37, is best known for her roles on the sitcoms "Blossom" and "The Big Bang Theory," but she is also a mother of two young sons, a licensed lactation education counselor, a columnist for the Jewish parenting blog Kveller and the author of a book that advocates long-term breastfeeding, carrying a baby instead of putting him or her in a stroller and letting small children sleep in their parents' beds.

WebMD describes the purpose of attachment parenting as focusing on the nurturing connection that parents can develop with their children.

OMG! quoted Bialik as saying she is happy to talk to strangers about what works for her as a parent, but is tired of being confronted and criticized for her opinions.

"If I'm talking to girlfriends, if I'm talking to random people, and we're talking about parenting, I tell them what works for me and why. But a lot of people want to ask me things so that they can fight with me," Bialik told the website. "And just because I'm a public person, who happened to have breastfed and slept with her kids, that doesn't mean that I want to fight with you on the street or in the supermarket. So, I think you have to be really careful to understand why people want to know what they want to know."
