LOS ANGELES, June 17 (UPI) -- The Disney Channel says it has ordered a "Girl Meets World" series and will begin airing it on U.S. television next year.
The family sitcom is a spinoff of the 1990s series "Boy Meets World."

That show's former kid stars -- Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel -- will reprise their roles as Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, but the show will focus on their 13-year-old daughter, played by newcomer Rowan Blanchard.
Production on the sitcom is to begin this summer in Los Angeles, People.com said Monday.
