LOS ANGELES, May 30 (UPI) -- Mariah Carey's representatives announced via Twitter Thursday the pop star will not return for a second season as judge on "American Idol."
"W/ global success of "#Beautiful" (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol," Carey's camp tweeted.
"The rest of this year is jam-packed with Mariah putting the finishing touches on her much anticipated forthcoming album, headlining the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular and appearing in Lee Daniels' [film] 'The Butler,' opening in August," her publicist told People.com in a statement.
Carey's fellow judges Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson also have confirmed they are leaving the show.
The fourth panelist, Keith Urban, has said he would like to come back next season; however, the singing competition series' producers have not announced any future casting yet.
