LOS ANGELES, May 16 (UPI) -- Steve Carell reprised his role of former Dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott on Thursday's series finale of the U.S. sitcom "The Office."

Michael served as the best man at Dwight and Angela's Pennsylvania beet farm wedding in the last episode of the show's ninth and final season.

"I feel like all my kids grew up and married each other. It's every parent's dream," said Michael, noting how many of his former employees have paired up romantically over the years.

Carell left the show in Season 7 to pursue his film career. His character Michael was said to have moved out of state to marry his girlfriend, Holly, played by Amy Ryan.

Michael said in the series finale he was now extremely happy as he showed off photos of his kids on his cell phone to his friends.

Carell's appearance on the last episode of the workplace comedy had been rumored for months, but the show's producers would not confirm it.
