Angie Everhart undergoing surgery for thyroid cancer

LOS ANGELES, May 13 (UPI) -- Angie Everhart's publicist says the U.S. actress and model has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and is scheduled to undergo surgery Tuesday.

"Word has been trickling out about [Angie's] health," her spokesman told TV's "Extra" Monday.

"[Angie] wants to set the record straight by letting everyone know that it is true that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, however, the prognosis is very good," the representative said. "[Angie] will undergo surgery tomorrow and expects to be back to work and to mommy duties in a few weeks."

Everhart, 43, is a former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and the single mother of a 3-year-old son.
