NEW YORK, April 12 (UPI) -- U.S. comedian Joan Rivers says she laughed when she heard actress Gwyneth Paltrow complain she looked like her after getting a Botox treatment.

Paltrow was quoted this week by Harper's Bazaar magazine as saying: "I won't do Botox again, because I looked crazy. I looked like Joan Rivers!"

"I would have written the response myself, but I have so much Botox in my thumbs, I can't type," Rivers told People.com.

"First reaction, 'Ooh, she watches [my show] 'Fashion Police!'" Rivers joked. "It just made me laugh. She says Botox made her scary like Joan Rivers? She should see what I look like without Botox. That's really scary! ...

"I've always been open about what I do, because I want [women] to be able to get Botox and not look like a Sharpei. [Lying about having work done] is such a put-down to women. It says to the average woman, 'I'm beautiful naturally and you're not.'"
