Van Dyke, 87, is being recognized for his long and storied career, as well as his humanitarian accomplishments.

His film credits include "Mary Poppins," "Bye, Bye Birdie," "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," "The Comic," "The Runner Stumbles," "Dick Tracy" and "Night at the Museum." On the small screen, he starred in "Diagnosis: Murder" and "The Dick Van Dyke Show."

For nearly 20 years, Van Dyke has been committed to volunteering at Los Angeles' century-old shelter, The Midnight Mission. He helped raise millions for their new building program and is there every Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and times in between offering comfort and cheer, SAG said in a news release.

The 19th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards show is to be simulcast live on TNT and TBS Jan. 27 from the Shrine Exposition Center.
