LOS ANGELES, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Zachary Quinto says he isn't planning to quit playing Spock on the big screen, despite remarks he made about taking his career in a new direction.

Following Leonard Nimoy's seminal development of the Vulcan character, Quinto played Spock in the blockbuster movie "Star Trek" and its upcoming sequel "Star Trek Into Darkness." He is also known for his work in the TV supernatural dramas "Heroes" and "American Horror Story."

"It's like an era of association with certain roles -- a specific part like Spock, or a kind of part, like Sylar [his character in 'Heroes'] -- is coming to an end," Quinto told EW.com last week.

He clarified the statement on Twitter Monday.

"Simmer down kids. rumors are rumors for a reason. quotes out of context. let's let the second movie come out before we talk about a third...," E! News said he tweeted.
