3 Second City alums join 'SNL' cast

NEW YORK, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Aidy Bryant, Tim Robinson and Cecily Strong have joined New York's "Saturday Night Live" ensemble as featured players, NBC announced Monday.

The three performers have ties to iO Chicago improv theater and the Second City comedy troupe. They joined "SNL" after longtime cast members Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Abby Elliott left at the end of last season.

"SNL" is to kick of its 38th season Saturday, with Seth MacFarlane as host and Frank Ocean as musical guest.
