PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Food Network star Marc Summers says he underwent 4 hours of plastic surgery after a Philadelphia taxi crash disfigured his face.

Summers, 60, told People.com he was riding in a cab during a "torrential downpour" last week after taping an episode of "Restaurant Impossible" when the driver lost control and hydroplaned, causing the "Unwrapped" star to hit the partition between the front and back seats of the taxi.

"Everything on the left side [of my face] from my eye socket down was just wiped out," he told People.com. "My eye socket got all swollen. I'm having trouble seeing completely out of the left eye ... . There's lots of titanium and screws in my face. ... I was pretty lucky that I didn't have brain damage."

Summers said his surgeon told him, "Everything went back into place."

"In a few weeks, the swelling will go down and no one will ever know ... . I'll be a new guy," Summers told People.com.
