NEW YORK, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- U.S. comedian Rosie O'Donnell says her fiancee, Michelle Rounds, has been diagnosed with desmoid tumors, a rare, cancer-like disease.

UsMagazine.com said O'Donnell blogged about Rounds' condition, which first became noticeable in May, for the first time Friday. The former talk-show host said on her Web site her partner of more than a year is "recovering from surgery in June, getting stronger every day."

"We wander thru the maze of medical mystery confused -- scared... undiagnosed -- again and again, her pain grew worse," O'Donnell wrote. "It seemed impossible no one knew what was wrong."

The couple announced their engagement late last December and plan to wed next summer, UsMagazine.com said.
