'Anger Management' alive despite ratings

LOS ANGELES, July 7 (UPI) -- The Charlie Sheen sitcom "Anger Management" will complete its run on FX despite a big drop in early ratings, according to the agreement with the distributor.

The Hollywood Reporter said the deal between FX and Debmar-Mercury calls for the future of "Anger Management" to be determined by the average of its weekly ratings over the course of the 10-week run.

Unfortunately for the series, the first two heavily promoted weeks won't figure into the average. The ratings for this week's third episode were about 41 percent lower than the first and second episodes, which were aired back to back last week, THR said.

The numbers showed this week's performance in the target demographic – adults ages 18-49 – fell from nearly 3 million viewers last week to 1.71 million this week.

FX will keep the series in its Thursday night time slot.
