LOS ANGELES, April 11 (UPI) -- American actress Melissa Gilbert missed Tuesday's "Dancing with the Stars" results show after suffering a concussion during the previous night's episode.

Best known for her work on the 19th century-set family drama series "Little House on the Prairie," Gilbert, 47, was hospitalized after she hit her head Monday night while performing with her professional dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

"Melissa is not here. She did suffer a mild concussion," host Tom Bergeron said at the beginning of Tuesday night's show. "On her doctor's advice, she is taking a rest day and if they get through tonight she'll be able to compete going forward."

Gilbert and Chmerkovskiy survived another round of viewer voting Tuesday night and will compete again next week if the actress is up to it.

"I'm alright," Gilbert said via Twitter Monday after being taken to the hospital. "Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of."
