NEW YORK, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Stephen Colbert has resumed taping his mock political program "The Colbert Report" in New York after a brief, unexpected hiatus last week.
Colbert offered no specifics about his absence during Monday's taping of the show, but he seemed to confirm reports stating he took a break to spend time with his ailing 91-year-old mother, Lorna, People.com said.
"Evidently, having 11 children makes you tough as nails," said Colbert, the youngest of Lorna's offspring. "Confidential to a lovely lady."
People.com said his mother's condition is still unknown.
