NYC Time Warner customers lose MSG channel

NEW YORK, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- More than a million Time Warner Cable customers in the New York City area lost access Sunday to sports channels that carry their local teams' games.

A negotiation impasse with MSG Network means 1.3 million Time Warner customers can't tune in New York Rangers, Knicks and Islanders, or New Jersey Devils games, the New York Daily News reported

A Time Warner spokesman put the onus MSG officials, who countered the MSG and MSG Plus channels went dark because of Time Warner's intransigence.

"All we have asked is for Time Warner to value our programming in the same way as other TV providers -- nothing more, nothing less," MSG Media President Michael Bair said in a statement.

Time Warner spokesman Eric Mangan said MSG has rejected all offers made over nearly two years of negotiations.

"MSG has again shown that they are more interested in holding New York sports fans hostage than in negotiating a deal," he said.
