Andy Rooney hospitalized after surgery

NEW YORK, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- U.S. TV commentator Andy Rooney is hospitalized in stable condition after suffering serious complications from minor surgery, CBS News said.

CBS News said Rooney, 92, has been hospitalized since the surgery last week.

"The Rooney family asks that their privacy be respected at this difficult time," CBS News said.

Rooney spent 62 years at CBS and recently retired as a regular commentator on "60 Minutes" after more than 1,000 broadcasts during more than three decades.

His last regular appearance on the broadcast aired Oct. 2.
