Syfy orders 6 episodes of 'School Spirits'

NEW YORK, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Syfy says it has ordered six, 1-hour episodes of "School Spirits," a new series chronicling allegedly haunted American schools.

The show is produced by Mark Burnett of "Survivor" and "The Apprentice" fame, and Seth Jarrett, whose credits include "Celebrity Ghost Stories."

The cable network said the tales told on "School Spirits" will be told in first-person narratives through the testimonials of real students, teachers, parents and staff who say they have encountered paranormal activity. The show will also feature dramatic re-enactments.

"School hauntings are some of the most terrifying first-hand accounts. The stories that have terrified generations of students and teachers are not for the faint-of-heart," Mark Stern, Syfy's president of original programming and co-head of content for Universal Cable Productions, said in a statement Tuesday. "With Mark and Seth as executive producers, we look forward to delivering another gripping paranormal series for our viewers."
