NEW YORK, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Three new episodes of the popular British comedy series "Absolutely Fabulous" are being made in honor of its 20th anniversary, the show's producers said.

The sitcom initially ran in the United Kingdom for three seasons from 1992 to 1995 and was capped by a two-part television movie called "The Last Shout" in 1996. It ran for two more seasons from 2001 to 2003 and was followed by various specials.

The New York Post said all of the show's original cast members, including co-creator Jennifer Saunders, Joanna Lumley, Julia Sawalha, June Whitfield and Jane Horrocks, are on board for the fresh run of 30-minute episodes, which are to begin airing on BBC America and Logo in the United States in January.

"They talk about doing new episodes of 'Ab Fab' all the time. Part of the problem was getting Jennifer working on it -- and getting that cast together is a challenge," Marc Leonard, a senior vice president of Logo, told the Post. "They've got everybody. They're also lining up some celebrity cameos, and the names they've been throwing around have been really interesting."

The show follows the adventures of self-destructive, middle-age best pals Patsy, a fashion magazine editor, and Edina, a publicist. Other characters include Edina's long-suffering, straight-laced daughter, her prim and proper mum and her air-headed office assistant.
