NEW YORK, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- A homeless man kicked out of New York City brownstone belonging to NBC's Ann Curry and her husband says he is willing to come back and be the building's super.
The unidentified vagrant told the New York Post he began living in the four-story building last year after a contractor apparently forgot to lock the door.
"I'll go back if someone says, 'Here's the key; maintain the building,'" said the man, who denied he had any substance-abuse issues and said he had never heard of Ann Curry.
Maintaining the Upper West Side property has apparently become an issue over the years. The Post said remodeling of the building was halted five years ago due to Buildings Department violations, and some of the neighbors later sued over damages and nuisances allegedly caused by illegal construction work and the long-running vacancy.
Neighbors said the home has become a lure for squatters, which they fear could result in a fire.
The Post said Curry and her husband, software executive Brian Ross, could not be reached for comment.
