LOS ANGELES, July 7 (UPI) -- U.S. cable network TNT said Thursday it has renewed its alien-invasion series "Falling Skies" for a second season.
The science-fiction action-drama stars Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton and Drew Roy. Created for TNT by DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg, it premiered last month in the United States.
TNT said it has ordered 10 episodes for the second season, which is slated to air in summer 2012.
"'Falling Skies' is a true standout series, from its ambitious storytelling, high-profile cast and production team to its phenomenal success when it comes to international and time-shifted viewing," Michael Wright, executive vice president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies, said in a statement. "We're reaching new audiences with 'Falling Skies' and look forward to seeing where this fascinating and exciting series takes us next."
