MONTE CARLO, Monaco, June 12 (UPI) -- U.S. comic Tracy Morgan was named outstanding actor in a comedy series by the Monte Carlo Television Festival this weekend.

Morgan wasn't in Monte Carlo to accept the honor, although he might have wished he was out of the country after the uproar over his recent remarks about homosexuals.

Morgan was lambasted by gay rights groups and warned by NBC that further such incidents would not be tolerated, TMZ.com said last week.

But the Monte Carlo festival kept the "30 Rock" star on its A list, which also presented the coveted Golden Nymph to Jon Hamm of "Mad Men," ABC's "Desperate Housewives" and other top TV shows and personalities.
