Northwestern to honor Colbert, Norman

EVANSTON, Ill., May 5 (UPI) -- Northwestern University says it will award honorary degrees to TV star Stephen Colbert and opera singer Jessye Norman at its graduation ceremony in Illinois.

The 153rd commencement exercises are to take place June 17.

Also to receive honorary degrees are Barbara H. Liskov, professor and associate provost for faculty equity at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and William A. Schabas, a professor of human rights law and director of the Irish Centre for Human Rights at the National University of Ireland Galway.
