LOS ANGELES, April 28 (UPI) -- Casey Abrams has been voted off of the singing competition series "American Idol" in Los Angeles.

Judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez used their once-a-season save option last month to keep the aspiring jazz singer on the show after viewers voted to eliminate him.

The 20-year-old California resident was booted from the series Thursday night. He came in sixth place for the season.

"A lot of fans are going to be disappointed with tonight's result," People.com quoted host Ryan Seacrest as warning the audience and contestants at the beginning of the show.

"This is what talent looks like," Seacrest later said when Abrams learned his fate and was sent off with a standing ovation from the judges.

Still in the running for the "Idol" title are Jacob Lusk, Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery, Haley Reinhart and James Durbin.
