LOS ANGELES, April 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. daytime drama series "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" have been canceled, ABC said Thursday.

"Children," which premiered Jan. 5, 1970, is slated to wrap up in September. "Life," which debuted July 15, 1968, will end in January, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"While we are excited about our new shows and the shift in our business, I can't help but recognize how bittersweet the change is," Brian Frons, president of Daytime at Disney ABC/Television Group, said in a statement Thursday. "We are taking this bold step to expand our business because viewers are looking for different types of programming these days."

The soaps will be replaced by the food series "The Chew" starring Mario Batali and Clinton Kelly, as well as the health and lifestyle show "The Revolution," The Hollywood Reporter said.
