DALLAS, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- The National Football League says it has booked The Black Eyed Peas to perform at halftime during Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium in Texas.
The announcement regarding the Feb. 6 event was made Thursday during Fox's broadcast of the New Orleans-Dallas game.
The popular alternative hip-hop act had long been rumored to be in the running for the gig.
More than 153 million viewers in the United States watched last year's show when The Who performed.
The Black Eyed Peas join an esteemed list of recent halftime acts that includes Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and U2.
