Vilasuso joins cast of 'All My Children'

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Actor Jordi Vilasuso has joined the cast of U.S. daytime drama "All My Children," ABC said.

He will play the role of Dr. Griffin Castillo.

The casting announcement was made Friday by Brian Frons, president of daytime at Disney/ABC Television Group.

Vilasuso is best known for his role as Tony Santos on "Guiding Light."

"We are excited to welcome Jordi Vilasuso to the 'All My Children' family and look forward to introducing a new character on our canvas with Mexican heritage. With Jordi's talented portrayal, the entrance of Griffin Castillo to Pine Valley promises to be filled with joy, passion and mystery," Executive Producer Julie Hanan Carruthers said in a statement.

Vilasuso won the 2003 Daytime Emmy Award for his work on "Guiding Light." He has also guest-starred on "CSI: Miami," "Numb3rs," "8 Simple Rules," "Fashion House" and the pilot "No Place Like Home." His film credits include leading roles in "Magic City," "La Linea," "Heights," "Ready or Not" and "Lost City."
