NEW YORK, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Rocker Bret Michaels and "Today" co-host Natalie Morales are to preside over the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant in Las Vegas, organizers said.

The event is to air live from Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino on NBC Aug. 23.

Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, and Donald J. Trump, owner of the Miss Universe Organization, announced the names of the hosts Tuesday.

They also said singer-songwriter Orianthi and John Legend & The Roots have been booked to perform live during the competition.

"It doesn't get hotter than being in Las Vegas during the month of August," Trump said in a statement. "Add more than 80 of the world's most beautiful women converging to compete for the crown of Miss Universe along with Bret Michaels, Natalie Morales, Orianthi and John Legend & The Roots... Las Vegas is going to be scorching hot!"
