LOS ANGELES, July 26 (UPI) -- Linda Hamilton is to play the title character's mother on the U.S. spy comedy "Chuck" next season, it has been announced.

Hamilton is best known for her work in the films "The Terminator" and "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," as well as on the TV series "Beauty and the Beast."

"Chuck," starring Zachary Levi, is going into its fourth season.

"It's all about family this season," executive producer Chris Fedak told TVGuide.com backstage at Comic-Con in San Diego during the weekend. "The fun of the season is the search for mom. Chuck has this mission from his father: He has to find his mother. That is the heart of this season."

Executive producer Josh Schwartz said during a panel discussion at the convention that Hamilton will first appear in the Season 4 premiere.

"(She) is such an icon in terms of that action female, bad-ass mom, and that really speaks to what we we're looking for," Schwartz said."That's really going to be a huge part of the season. That's obviously a story that lands in Chuck's spy world and personal world."
