AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 25 (UPI) -- Car buff Jay Leno, racer Richard Petty and former Chrysler chief Lee Iacocca were honored before 570 gala guests at the Auburn Hills (Mich.) Chrysler Museum.

"The Tonight Show" host, Nascar champ, former Chrysler CEO and late Chrysler design chief Virgil Exner were inducted into Chrysler's "Legacy Circle" during the Walter P. Chrysler Legacy Gala celebrating the automaker's 85 years Saturday night, The Detroit News reported Sunday.

"If it takes 10 years to walk on the moon, it will certainly just take 10 years to bring Detroit back," Leno said after accepting his award.

Silent and live auctions included prizes such as spending time with Petty, a tour of Leno's Big Dog Garage and tickets to "The Tonight Show," The News said.

Funds raised during the gala will go toward keeping the museum in the Detroit suburb afloat.
