NEW YORK, April 28 (UPI) -- Actress Gabourey "Gabby" Sidibe has been booked as a guest co-host on "The View," Bill Geddie, the U.S. chat show's executive producer, said Wednesday.

Sidibe, 26, earned an Oscar nod for her acting debut in 2009's "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire."

She is to make her first appearance as celebrity guest co-host on the May 4 edition of "The View."

The actress was previously interviewed as a guest on the show last February.

"I cut class and went to an audition and now I'm an Oscar nominee. On one credit. I mean, how crazy is this world?" Sidibe told "The View" hosts -- including Sherri Shepherd, with whom she shares the screen in "Precious" -- during that February appearance.

"I think it was the Golden Globes," Sidibe continued. "Mike Tyson was there because he's in 'The Hangover.' I didn't realize but I'm terrified of Mike Tyson. I saw him on the carpet and I was with Jill, my manager, and I was like: 'Jill, don't move. Don't move.' I stood there and let him walk by me. I'm sure he's a very nice man, but there's something about a face tattoo. I'm serious. Face tattoos say, 'I've gone as far as I want to in society and, in fact, I think I want to take a few steps back.'"

Sidibe will soon be seen in both the series "The Big C" on Showtime and the film "Yelling to the Sky."
