NEW YORK, April 23 (UPI) -- This year's Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony will be the first to take place in Las Vegas, CBS said Friday.

Last year's show took place in Los Angeles and was broadcast on the CW network.

"The Daytime Emmy Awards are one of the cornerstones of our business and we are thrilled to be back on CBS," Herb Granath, chairman of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, said in a statement. "Last year's show was one of the most entertaining events in our history, and this year's Las Vegas-based broadcast promises to be even more exciting.

"After last year's Daytime Emmy Awards, we are delighted to be working with NATAS again," he added.

Associated Television International President David McKenzie, who is serving as executive producer, said, "Being on the top-rated network gives us the opportunity to reach a wide audience and moving the show to Las Vegas allows us a dazzling range of production choices."
