Chad Lowe joining 'Pretty Little Liars'

LOS ANGELES, April 3 (UPI) -- Emmy-winning actor Chad Lowe has joined the cast of an upcoming ABC Family series, "Pretty Little Liars."

The show features four teenage girls who receive messages apparently coming from a friend who vanished several years earlier. Lowe replaces Alexis Denisof as the father of one of the girls, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Lowe, younger brother of Rob Lowe, won an acting Emmy playing an AIDS-infected man in "Life Goes On."

In other casting news, Gina Torres has been cast as Dr. Dorothy Rand in "Huge." The ABC Family show is about a weight-loss camp.
