Tussauds gets wax statue of Selena Gomez

WASHINGTON, March 29 (UPI) -- Madame Tussauds says it plans to unveil its wax sculpture of teen actress and singer Selena Gomez at its Washington location.

The museum is to debut the statue Tuesday morning.

"The creation of Gomez's figure began late last year when a team of Madame Tussauds studio artists met Gomez for her figure sitting. Gomez was an enthusiastic participant in the figure-making process, spending nearly an hour with the studio artists, as they took dozens of measurements and hundreds of photos to ensure her wax likeness would be an exact replica," the museum said in a news release Monday. "Providing the 'icing on the cake,' Gomez donated a black BCBG dress and shoes of her own -- completing the authenticity of the figure's likeness."

Gomez's wax figure is being installed in the tourist attraction's Glamour room, which also features sculptures resembling Madonna, the Jonas Brothers, Penelope Cruz, Beyonce and other celebrities.
