LOS ANGELES, March 16 (UPI) -- Producer/director Don Mischer has been tapped to produce this summer's 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards show in Los Angeles, NBC announced.

This year marks Mischer's 10th time as executive producer of the Primetime Emmy broadcast. He also recently produced "We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial."

NBC said this year's Emmy Awards ceremony, celebrating the best in television for the 2009-10 season, will air Aug. 29 -- and will be televised live coast-to-coast for the first time in more than 30 years.

Paul Telegdy -- executive vice president of alternative programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios -- and John Shaffner -- chairman and chief executive officer of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences -- made a joint announcement regarding the Emmy plans Monday.

"Don is a legend in television for producing and directing important event programming," Telegdy said in a statement. "His award-winning resume speaks for itself and we are pleased to have him on our team as we prepare for NBC's Emmy broadcast."

"Don produced a Primetime Emmy telecast last year that hit it out of the park," Shaffner said. "We know he can creatively build on that accomplishment. We are very fortunate to be able to work with him again this year."
