LONDON, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- James Nesbitt, Minnie Driver and Goran Visnjic have begun shooting the television miniseries "The Deep" in Glasgow, Scotland, the BBC announced.

The British broadcaster said Thursday the five-part drama is about what happens to the crew of an oceanographic submarine when they are stranded with no power and little oxygen after an undersea mishap. The miniseries is slated to air next year.

"It is testament to Simon Donald's gripping and expertly-crafted script that we have attracted such distinguished and prominent names to this series."
