NEW YORK, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- U.S. actress, comedian and radio host Rosie O'Donnell says she hasn't enjoyed being single since her wife Kelli Carpenter moved out of their home two years ago.

The former couple have four children and reportedly are still raising them together. O'Donnell, 47, only recently confirmed she and Carpenter, 42, a former Nickelodeon marketing executive and co-founder of R Family Vacations, had split up.

Asked if she is enjoying the single life, O'Donnell told People magazine, "I'm not."

"But on we grow, so to speak," she added.

A friend of O'Donnell, Judy Gold, told the magazine O'Donnell waited to announce the breakup for so long out of respect for her and Carpenter's adopted children, ages 14, 12, 9 and 6.

"She has the kids," Gold said. "I think she's entitled to her private life and that's what it is, private. ... She seems happy and grounded. She's in the driver's seat here."
