LOS ANGELES, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- CBS has ordered a pilot for an adaptation of the classic police television series "Hawaii Five-O," industry sources told Variety.
Peter Lenkov, an executive producer on "CSI: NY," is writing the script for what may become a new "Hawaii Five-O" series. The original show ran from 1968-1980 and starred Jack Lord as the head of the Hawaiian State Police.

Screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who penned the blockbusters "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "Star Trek," are supervising the pilot project. If it becomes a series, Lenkov will serve as its showrunner, Variety said.
