Director and producer Sir Ridley Scott was honored during a hand and footprint ceremony at TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on May 17.

Scott's best known films include Alien, Thelma & Louise, Blade Runner, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Hannibal, and The Martian. His production company, Scott Free, was also behind the TV series Numb3ers, The Good Wife, and The Man in the High Castle.

Scott is bringing the Alien franchise back to the big screen with the upcoming prequel Alien: Covenant, which premieres in theaters on May 19.

In October, Scott will also release a sequel to 1982's Blade Runner, titled Blade Runner 2049, which stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Robin Wright.
