J.J. Abrams, Lupita Nyong'o walk the red carpet at 'The Last Jedi' premiere (21 images)

The sci-fi fantasy "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" premiered in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium on Saturday. The plot follows Rey, after having taken her first steps into the Jedi world. Cast member Lupita Nyong'o plays Maz Kanata in the film. Nyong'o recently called out Grazia U.K. for retouching her hair in photoshop "to fit their notion of what beautiful hair looks like" for their cover. The photographer has since apologized.

Cast member Adam Driver (L) plays Kylo Ren in the film and attends the premiere with his wife, Joanne Tucker. Driver's non-profit Arts in the Armed Forces will be giving $10,000 to a playwright who has served in the military for the production of a new play. Driver served in the Marine Corps before attending Julliard.

Cast member John Boyega plays Finn in the film. Boyega will also play Jake Pentecost in the new "Pacific Rim: Uprising" set to open in theaters in March of 2018.
