The Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, often referred to as the Met Gala, is a yearly fundraiser held at New York City's famed museum which draws celebrities eager to show off some of their most unique themed looks. Designer Rei Kawakubo and her Comme des Garçons label are the theme of this year's Gala, held on May 1. Kawakubo also has the honor of being the first living designer since Yves Saint Laurent in 1983 to be the Gala's sole subject. Here are some of the most memorable outfit selections over the years.
