George Lucas, Mark Bradford honored at LACMA Art+Film Gala (18 images)

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art's seventh annual Art+Film Gala on November 4, 2017, honored acclaimed filmmaker George Lucas and artist Mark Bradford.

“I’m a firm believer that art tells stories, and the best story medium is film...more and more art museums are moving into film, because it’s the same thing," Lucas said at the event. "Film is not like theater, not like a novel, not like any of those things. It’s like a painting. It’s a visual art."

Proceeds from the event support LACMA's initiative to make film more central to the museum's programming. Photos by Jim Ruymen/UPI

Director George Lucas and his wife, Mellody Hobson, were among the guests of honor for the event. Lucas is best known for creating the Star Wars and Indiana Jones film franchises.
