Cast members Jason Momoa, Henry Cavill, Ezra Miller, Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher and Ben Affleck (L-R) pose on the red carpet for the premiere. Their characters, Aquaman, Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Cyborg and Batman respectively, comprise the Justice League in the DC universe.
Cast member Ben Affleck plays Batman in the DC universe. Off the heels of "Batman vs. Superman" Affleck and the rest of the cast has a lot to prove to get back in the good graces of fans as the film got a 27% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Warner Brothers even went so far as to reshoot a quarter of the film to "punch up" the dialogue in hopes it will connect more with audiences and avoid the pitfalls of "Batman vs. Superman" and the similarly received "Suicide Squad."
"It was very clear that the tone of the movie was different than 'Batman v Superman,'" Gadot told the New York Times. "Henry (Cavill), Ben and I had a wonderful addition with Ezra and Jason and Ray (that) just stirred everything up." The success of "Wonder Woman" is promising for the future of "Justice League."
Cast member JK Simmons plays Commissioner Gordon in the film. The role has been played by several different actors throughout history including Lyle Talbot in the 1949 series "Batman and Robin", Neil Hamilton in the TV series "Batman" in the 1960s, Pat Hingle in the Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher "Batman" franchise and by Gary Oldman in the "Dark Knight" films. The character is an integral part of the Batman narrative.
