The 16th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Fall Gala with Cocktails by Clase Azul Tequila was held at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine on Tuesday in New York City. The foundation has raised over $385 million since its inception in 1992 and is divided into two branches, one in the United States and another in the United Kingdom. The focus in the United States is on anti-discrimination initiatives, prevention, treatment and services in the Americas, while the United Kingdom branch funds HIV-related work in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Sir Elton John (R) and his husband David Furnish have been together for 24 years and have two sons. Furnish is also the Elton John AIDS foundation chairman and recently said of John's philanthropy, "Elton’s greatest contribution as a humanitarian is his 25-year commitment to building one of the most important institutions in the effort to end AIDS.”
