Doja Cat, Shawn Mendes to perform at the MTV VMAs

Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Doja Cat, Shawn Mendes, Chloe Bailey and Twenty One Pilots have joined the lineup for this year's edition of the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony on Sept. 12.

Previously announced performers include Camila Cabello, Lil Nas X, LORDE, Machine Gun Kelly and Olivia Rodrigo.

The live event is to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Voting is now open to fans.

Justin Bieber leads the field with seven nominations, while Megan Thee Stallion is up for six prizes and Billie Eilish, BTS, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon, Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo are in the running for five VMAs apiece.

Rock band Foo Fighters has already been announced as the winner of the Global Icon Award.
