The Linda Lindas perform 'Racist, Sexist Boy' on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

June 4 (UPI) -- Teen punk band The Linda Lindas performed their song "Racist, Sexist Boy" on Jimmy Kimmel Live and discussed the origins of the group's name.

"There's a Japanese indie film called Linda Linda Linda and in it there are high school girls who cover the song "Linda Linda" by The Blue Hearts. So we're kind of named after both of those," singer Eloise said on Thursday.

The Linda Lindas, consisting of Eloise, Bela, Lucia, and Mila, went viral in May after performing "Racist, Sexist Boy" at the Los Angeles Public Library. The group also explained to Kimmel the origins of the song.

"The back story is that a boy from school told me that his dad told him to stay away from Chinese people. And I told him that I was Chinese and he backed away from me," Mila said.

"There's also a lot of like sexism around boys our age and unfortunately a lot of people like every age. So we were really angry and we decided to write a song about it," Eloise continued.

The Linda Lindas performed "Racist, Sexist Boy" live on the talk show's stage and their song "Claudia Kishi." The performance was their late night television debut.
