"Promise" was produced by frequent BTS collaborator Slow Rabbit with lyrics written by Jimin and his fellow bandmate RM. The song features lyrics in both English and Korean.

"Everyone, you've waited a long time, right?" Jimin said on BTS' Twitter account according to a translation by Billboard.

"I finally shared my own song with the public. This is a song for me, as it is a song for you. It's the first time and it is still premature but please enjoy it. Thank you for waiting, ARMY," he continued.

BTS recently made headlines for winning Time's readers poll for Person of the Year.
