Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Singer Demi Lovato has canceled the remainder of her 2018 shows as she recuperates from a recent drug overdose.

"Unfortunately, Demi Lovato has canceled her upcoming Tell Me You Love Me Tour dates in South America, as she is focusing on her recovery," Live Nation said in a statement to Variety Thursday.

Lovato, 25, gave fans an update on her condition Sunday, writing on Instagram: "I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet."

She also acknowledged she needs time to concentrate on her sobriety.

"The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting," she said.

Paramedics reportedly administered Narcan to revive Lovato after she suffered an overdose at her Hollywood Hills home, and transported her to the hospital. She has been open about her past battles with drugs and alcohol, posting in March that she was six years sober.

E! News said Lovato headed to rehab in early August after two weeks of treatment in a Los Angeles hospital.
