The "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" video features a giant chessboard, bank vault and church-like building with stained-glass windows. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa perform coordinated dance numbers in sequined outfits.

"[The song] resembles the sound of a gunshot," Jennie said of "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" at a press conference, according to The Korea Herald. "It has elements of hip hop, stronger and tougher than our previous songs."

Square Up also features the tracks "Forever Young," "Really" and "See U Later." Black Pink said Yang Hyun-suk, the head of its agency YG Entertainment, encouraged the group to "show more power."

"When we practiced the choreography, he came to see us and check if things are going alright," Rose said. "He told us to be powerful, putting aside a feminine touch."

"Our previous tracks has a girly aspect. But this time, it's some more hip hop," Jisoo added.

Square Up is the third part of Black Pink's Square music series. The group previously released the single album Square One and the EP Square Two in August 2016 and November 2016, respectively.
